Yuri Kaplanskiy joined Development Specialists Inc’s San Francisco office in 2008 after starting out his career in public accounting and acquiring solid knowledge and experience within both assurance and advisory sides of the accounting business.
Prior to joining Development Specialists Inc, Mr. Kaplanskiy was a Senior Associate within KPMG LLP, a U.S. member firm of KPMG International, one of the world’s largest accounting and professional services firms. Mr. Kaplanskiy’s primary responsibilities focused on participating in attest services including audits of financial statements, reviews, SEC compliance, reviews of interim data, internal control reviews and regulatory and other compliance reporting for public and privately held companies. In addition, he received exposure to financial and operational due diligence services to Fortune 1000 companies in the firm’s advisory practice side, which included financial restatements and restructuring, financial modeling, analysis of the quality of the secured collateral and compliance with financing arrangements. While at KPMG, Mr. Kaplanskiy‘s primary focus was on Consumer and Industrial Market clients, which included Navistar International, Ace Hardware and ThyssenKrupp North America.
Before KPMG, Mr. Kaplanskiy was with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, also one of the world’s largest accounting and professional services firms, as an Experienced Assurance Associate. There, he was responsible for examining clients’ financial documents and participating in developing and implementing necessary analytical, audit and process improvement procedures to assure that proper accounting treatment was applied. In addition, Mr. Kaplanskiy participated in a number of internal audit and process improvement projects with the firm’s advisory practice. While at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mr. Kaplanskiy primarily focused on insurance industry clients, which included State Farm, Old Republic Insurance, Swiss Reinsurance and Zurich International.
In addition, Mr. Kaplanskiy received experience within the financial services (ABN AMRO, Caterpillar Financial Services, Citadel) and healthcare (BlueCross BlueShield Association, Baxter Healthcare, HealthSouth) industries during his time at PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG and internships held during college.
Mr. Kaplanskiy received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from the DePaul University in Chicago and is currently pursuing his Certified Public Accountant accreditation. While working on his Bachelor’s degree, he studied abroad at Catholic University of America in Leuven, Belgium and interned at European Union Parliament in Brussels, Belgium with a focus European Economic Affairs.
