
Eric Sweitzer joined Development Specialists, Inc.’s Columbus, Ohio, office in 2002, bringing to the firm his more than five years of public accounting experience.
Mr. Sweitzer’s experience includes a variety of assignments in the areas of bankruptcy proceedings, crisis management consulting and litigation consulting. He specializes in financial modeling and forecasting, budgeting, crisis management and short-term cash forecasting, data analysis, forensic accounting and monitoring various facets of daily business operations.
Mr. Sweitzer has acted as interim Chief Financial Officer of reorganizing entities such as Foss Manufacturing, Inc., a Tier II automotive supplier and manufacturer of non-woven fabric products. He was one of two principals advising Huffy Corporation in its successful Chapter 11 reorganization and was a member of the team advising the Committee of Non-Union Retirees in Dana Corporation’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy, specifically with respect to the preservation of retiree health benefits. Mr. Sweitzer has worked on several litigation support matters, most notably Parmalat SpA, which required the review and analysis of many complex financial structures and transactions, as well as other matters involving solvency opinions, preference analysis and various financial analyses in support of expert testimony. Mr. Sweitzer has also worked on several forensic accounting cases where he was able to create accurate financial records that allowed funds to be traced and recovered for the benefit of the estates and their creditors.
Prior to joining DSI, Mr. Sweitzer was an Audit Supervisor with Schneider Downs & Co., Inc., a major regional accounting firm based in Pittsburgh, where he was responsible for the planning, supervision and completion of manufacturing, automotive and benefit plan engagements. Mr. Sweitzer’s other areas of service have included evaluation of client systems, recommendation of best practices, and researching and resolving complex accounting and reporting issues.
Before Schneider Downs, Mr. Sweitzer was with American Express Tax and Business Services where he worked on audit teams servicing manufacturing and automotive clients. During this time Mr. Sweitzer developed a strong base of knowledge in servicing both SEC and closely-held businesses.
Mr. Sweitzer received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Kent State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors.
